Awards, Careers, Clubs: Living the Student Life
Students are busy with studying, playing, going to events and making new friendships. The average class load is about 15-18 credit hours per semester. Usually, in order to get an A in a class a student will need to spend about two hours studying or on homework per classroom hour. So if a student is in the classroom about 15 hours a week, there could be around 30 hours a week of homework.
The university provides an interesting variety of activities. From Pak-10 sports to theater and big name entertainers, there is always something going on. For more information, check out the Current Events Calendar.
Our college has over 30 clubs related to our various majors. These provide an excellent opportunity to make new friends and learn more about your major. Usually there are field trips planned or other fun community activities. You can learn more about student clubs on our club's page. If a club has a web site, you can click on that to learn more or call the number listed to talk to a club advisor or find out when the next meeting is.
All of our clubs provide leadership opportunities for students. Many allow students to represent the university at national conventions. Two clubs especially provide leadership and support for the college as a whole. These are the Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences Student Senate and the Ambassadors. The CAHNRS Student Senate arranges the Fall Festival Activities and the Awards Banquet in the Spring as well as other fun activities. The Ambassadors travel to high schools to talk to students about the many opportunities available in the college and WSU as well as giving them general information about applying for financial aid and scholarships.
