The Freshman of the Year Award is presented annually by the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta to the outstanding freshman of the previous academic year. The purpose of this award is to recognize the student who demonstrates a balance between academic achievements, leadership and activities.
Award Eligibility
Have a 3.00 GPA (an unofficial copy of the applicant's transcript should be attached to the application form. These copies can be obtained from the student's academic advisor)
Be currently enrolled as a sophomore in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences.
Have completed his/her freshman year at Washington State University.
A nomination letter is not required.

Nomination Packet Guidelines
An electronic packet will be submitted to Sean McIlraith (smcilraith@wsu.edu) in the CAHNRS Academic Programs via email. The packet must be in electronic form so the selection committee can view the material on the Academic Progams SharePoint site. Submit a seperate document for each of the following numbers. Make sure you include the numbered title (in bold) in the file name.

Nomination Cover Form
Complete nomination form including press release and photo will be posted on the CAHNRS Academic Programs Awards site. This paragraph should not exceed 150 words. Please submit an electronic copy of the narrative to Sean McIlraith, smcilraith@wsu.edu, with the nominee's name and award in the subject line.Pictures are requested so they can be posted on the CAHNRS Academic Programs Awards site. Academic Programs will also accept a high quality digital picture. Submit the picture electronically to Sean McIlraith, smcilraith@wsu.edu, with the nominee's name and award in the subject line.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by Alpha Zeta Award Committee. Finalists will be interviewed by Alpha Zeta Award Committee. Alpha Zeta reserves the option of not making an award during a given year.
Award Announcement
The winner will be announced at the CAHNRS Awards Banquet. The recipient will receive a plaque from Alpha Zeta.
