Intention: From helping select courses and academic majors to supporting club activities and providing assistance in securing internships and jobs after graduation, advisors make invaluable contributions to their students' college experiences. In 1987, the College's Alumni Association began a tradition of recognizing the often-unrewarded efforts of these outstanding individuals.

Prescreening Application Nomination Letter
Submit a one page electronic letter outlining the justification for the nomination and outlining the individual's award worthy accomplishments. Email the electronic letter to Sean McIlraith, smcilraith@wsu.edu.
Nomination Packet Guidelines
Packet specifications: Page limitations = 8 ½ x 11, 1" margins; font size = 12 pt. Page limitations (as outlined below) must be followed. If the nomination packet specifications are not followed, the packet will be rejected.
The packet will be submitted to Sean McIlraith (smcilraith@wsu.edu) in the CAHNRS Academic Programs via email. The packet must be in electronic form so the selection committee can view the material on the Academic Progams SharePoint site. Submit a seperate document for each of the following numbers. Make sure you include the numbered title (in bold) in the file name.

Nomination Cover Form
Complete nomination form including press release and photo will be posted on the CAHNRS Academic Programs Awards site. This paragraph should not exceed 150 words. Please submit an electronic copy of the narrative to Sean McIlraith, smcilraith@wsu.edu, with the nominee's name and award in the subject line.Pictures are requested so they can be posted on the CAHNRS Academic Programs Awards site. Academic Programs will also accept a high quality digital picture. Submit the picture electronically to Sean McIlraith, smcilraith@wsu.edu, with the nominee's name and award in the subject line.

Advising Philosophy
Narrative summary provided by the nominee that highlights his/her advising philosophy and strategies and how these are incorporated into advising activities with individual students or group situations. Not to exceed two (2) single spaced pages (8½ x 11). -
Additional Student Advising Activities
A year listing of non-formal student advising related activities. Include objective levels of involvement, but qualitative evaluations are restricted to the narrative summary and letters. Letters of Support
These should be organized into categories -- department chair/director (required), peers, current and former students/clientele or other with no more than two (2) letters in each category. If the chair or director nominated the individual, that letter can suffice for the required letter in this section. Do not exceed seven (7) letters total. All letters should be submitted in one PDF. -

Selection Process
Selection committees review the award nominations and make their recommendations to the Associate Dean, Academic Programs.

Awards Process
Announcement - All employee candidates who have been nominated will be notified prior to the banquet of the decision. A formal announcement will be made at the CAHNRS Awards Banquet. No other public announcements will be made until after the awards banquet.
Monetary Awards - The award winner will receive a monetary award. The advising award winner has two options: (1) money will be transferred to recipient's department account to be used for professional development; or (2) recipient may request a personal check. All monetary awards given to recipients will be minus the necessary tax deductions as required by law.
